Image ALT Tags
The HTML <img> tag has an "alt" attribute that can be used to specify text associated with that image. Originally used in case a user disabled images from loading when using their web browser, the attribute's current function is also for SEO purposes by using applicable keywords in it. It is weighted less by Google than other search engine algorithms, but still has some use in telling a search engine about the relevancy of the image to the web site's content.
Overuse, or keyword-stuffing, of text in this tag (as well as all other areas of a web page) can result in penalizations in search results.
